The migration of the Zombie Reviews and the Motivational Posters has finally been completed, and redirects will be set up at their former host (if you ended up here following one of those links we apologize for the inconvenience, but please take an opportunity to look around).

Some formatting issues have made themselves apparent but if you encounter a problem please report it.

In the meantime I hope we’re able to spend some time adding new content, and less time reformatting the old.

Created in 2005 by Kevan Davis. Described on it’s title screen as a “low-tech massively-multiplayer online zombie apocalypse game” the game gained a fairly large following early on as players sought to climb the skills ladder available to players (two different trees, unique to either zombies or living survivors).

The game was entertaining as massive battles raged between the living and the living dead and only slightly marred by accusations of Zerging. Both my living and dead characters have fought at the numerous battles at Caiger Mall.

Interest in the game seems to wane when characters max out their skills and soon tire of the tedium of barricading, restocking and refueling generators and seeking revives after being struck down by a psychotic survivor.

All in all if you haven’t played it you should give it a try. If you have played it then you’ve likely stopped reading this some time ago anyway.

The story is told from the perspective of a Police Officer (Rick Grimes) who wakes from a coma to find the world he’s known has been over run by the living dead.

He, over the course of the first few volumes, reunites with his family and his partner, bands together with other survivors and collectively they do their best to find somewhere that they can call home.

Until then they are forced to live a nomadic existance putting themselves in harms way as they forage for food and fuel in the unknown day after day.

The series is available by Volume (each volume spans approximately 6 comic book issues) or by book (each book covers two volumes approximately). I have only read the first 4 volumes of the series and while I enjoyed it I didn’t feel it was really for me or that I was getting much bang for my buck (each volume can be read in less than 30 minutes, and costs the same as a typical zombie movie).

If this is your sort of thing then I recommend it. If not then maybe give it a try, you never know.

Zombie survival has always been an interesting diversion when disaster oriented types gather.

Max Brooks took it one step further and put together a step by step guide to surviving the inevitable rise of the undead. Dealing with preparation, defense and long-term survival strategies the book is comprehensive.

I personally disagree with Max on a few key points (I’ll wield a sword the moment my ammunition is expended, and barring extraordinary circumstances not a second before) but admire the thought that has clearly gone into this guide.

If you only buy one book on zombie survival this year this should be the one.
